We comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act).  This privacy policy outlines how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information.

Personal information
We may collect personal information such as your name and contact information and your asset, entity and structure details relevant to our legal services.  We do not collect banking information.

Collection of personal information
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our legal services.  We usually collect personal information from you and your other advisers, and from public registers containing company, business, land, water, mining and IP information.  We may also collect personal information from other sources you approve.  We collect personal information for purposes directly and indirectly related to our legal services.

Use and disclosure of personal information
We hold, use and disclose personal information for purposes related to our legal services, including: (i) providing our services; (ii) managing our client relationships; (iii) fulfilling our professional obligations; (iv) engaging with external service providers; (v) for purposes permitted under the APPs; and (vi) for purposes you consent to.  We do not use or disclose personal information overseas without express consent.  We usually hold information indefinitely, unless you request otherwise, to enable the efficient provision of repeat and follow up legal services.

Security of personal information
We take all reasonable steps to ensure personal information we hold, collect, use and disclose is stored securely and protected from data breaches.

Requesting access to personal information
If requested, we will provide access to any personal information we hold about you.

Correcting personal information
We will take all reasonably necessary steps to correct any personal information we hold about you to ensure it is accurate, up-to-date, complete, relevant and not misleading.  If requested, we will ensure the same with regard to any personal information disclosed to third parties.

Data breach
If an eligible data breach occurs, we will notify affected persons and the Privacy Commissioner and make recommendations about how affected persons can protect themselves.

This privacy policy may change from time to time.  The most recent version is always available on our website at kovichco.com.au.  Our website does not use cookies or tracking technologies.
